The Third Battle of Panipat

In 1761, between Ahmad Shah Abdali and the Marathas; the latter were defeated and the Marathas power was crushed once for all. Read more about here.

The Empire of Vijaynagar

The greatest empire built in the South on medieval lines; it revived  the tradition of ancient Indian policy; its commercial contacts extended to the entire South East Asia.

The August Movement 1942

The August movement 1942, which is also known as Quit India Movement, was launched by Mahatma Gandhi on the failure of the Cripps Mission. The Congress leaders courted imprisonment and the British Government resorted to severe repression.

The First Governor General of India

Warren Hastings was the first Governor General of India. He joined the service of the East India Company as a Collector, rose to be the member of the Governor’s Council and retired as Governor General; he was hedged by his Council as he had no veto power; did his best to consolidate the rule of East India Company. He suffered impeachment for his public dealings.

The Kalinga War

In 261 B.C. Emperor Asoka fought the battle of Kalinga which he won after causing great bloodshed. Emperor Ashoka renounced violence and embraced Buddhism, and sent his emissaries abroad to preach Buddhism.
