Details of Vacancy

Steno Assistant Sub Inspector – 133 Posts

Age Limit (As on 01.01.2020):

Candidates Should be Minimum 18 years Old.

The Maximum Age Limit for the Candidates will be –

  • Gen & EWS (Male & Female) – 25 years,
  • BC/EBC (Male) – 27 years &
  • BC/EBC (Female) – 28 Years;
  • SC/ST-30 years (Male & Female).

Written Competitive Examination

The written competition examination will be conducted by the Commission for all the candidates. There will be two papers in the written examination. Both the papers will be based on multiple choice questions.

The first question paper will be based on 100 multiple choice questions of general Hindi of 100 marks, in which it will be mandatory to get minimum qualifying 30 marks otherwise the candidate will be disqualified. The duration of the examination for General Hindi paper will be one and a half hours. The score of General Hindi paper will not be added to the determination of merit.

The second paper will be based on 200 marks general knowledge and 100 multiple questions related to current issues for which the duration of the examination will be 2 hours and 0.2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Based on the marks obtained in the written examination, 6 times the successful candidates of the vacancy will be selected on reservation reservation, whose eligibility will be checked as per the provisions mentioned below. In case of non-availability of sufficient number of successful candidates, the said ratio can be suitably reduced. Answer book will be in duplicate, a copy of which will be kept safe with the commission.

Eligibility check

The following test will be taken to check the dictation of successful candidates in written examination, typing in Hindi and English:

(a) Hindi Srutlikhan – Hindi scrutiny will be checked by writing for 5 minutes at a speed of 80 words per minute. He will be given another 20 minutes to type. The candidates will be given additional time of 2 minutes for purification before starting the typing. Typing of dictation has to be done within the stipulated time. There should not be more than 10 percent of the mistakes to be passed in the typing of Shrutilikh otherwise they will be disqualified.

(B) Typewriting test. Candidates will have to type 300 words in Hindi and English at a speed of 30 (thirty) words per minute on a computer in 10-10 minutes. In order to pass it, no more than five percent of mistakes in Hindi typing and ten percent in English typing should be made, otherwise they will be disqualified.

Candidates typing less than 300 words in the prescribed 10 minutes time will be disqualified.

Computer Knowledge Check

Candidate’s practical knowledge of MS Word, office, power point and internet will be checked. Candidates unsuccessful in this test will be disqualified.

MERIT LIST

Merit list of finally successful candidates will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written examination. In the case of two or more candidates getting the same marks in the written examination, their place in the merit list will be decided on the basis of their date of birth, that is, in the age, the preferred candidate will be above the merit order. In the case of two or more candidates receiving equal marks and having the same date of birth, their place in the merit list will be determined on the basis of their educational qualification, ie, candidates with higher educational qualification will be ranked higher in the merit order. Despite this, if more than one candidate is the same, the preference of such candidates will be determined according to the English alphabetical order of the name as mentioned in their 10th board certificate.

For the final merit list to be prepared on the basis of written examination, the minimum qualification is 32 percent for SC, ST, women candidates and PwD (all classes), 34 percent for the candidates belonging to Extremely Backward Classes, 36.5 for the candidates of Backward Classes. Educational Qualification of the candidates

Candidates must have passed in the intermediate (10 + 2) examination or equivalent examination before or on 01.01.2020. Apart from this, the candidate is compulsory to hold a diploma certificate from a government recognized institute on or before 01.01.2020. Candidates age (as on 01 January 2020):

(1) Minimum age 18 years and maximum age 25 years for men and women of unreserved (general) category and economically weaker section.

(2) Minimum age 18 years and maximum age 27 years for backward class and extremely backward class men.

(3) Minimum age 18 years and maximum age 28 years for backward class and extremely backward class women.

(4) The minimum age should be 18 years and maximum 30 years for men and women of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

Reservation Criteria

In Bihar vacancies and vacancies of services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act 1991 (Bihar Act-3, 1992) (as amended from time to time) the provisions of reservation will apply and Its benefit will be payable only to the permanent resident of the state of Bihar. Candidates of reservation category from other states will be counted as candidates of unreserved (general) category. Accordingly, the age limit prescribed for the unreserved (general) candidates and other related qualifications will be applicable for them.

Medical Examination

All the selected candidates will be subjected to medical examination before appointment. Notification No. 4 / B1-10-05 / 2011-1970 dated-08.03.2018, Note-3 provides that “the above mentioned provisions in respect of medical examination on general candidates, the provisions contained in the Disability Rights Act, 2016 Keeping in mind, the disabled will not apply to the candidates. ” In the light of 133 posts notified for Steno ASI recruitment, in the light of the Government of Bihar, General Administration Department circular number-2342, dated -15.02.2016, 35 percent of the category reservation for women in reserved and non-reserved category has been made.

Pay Scale :

Rs. 5200 – 20200 + Grade Pay 2800

Note : Those candidates, who have higher qualification than DCA (e.g. BCA, MCA), can also apply for this position. Those candidates, who have B.E./M.E. or B.Tech/M.Tech degree , are also eligible if they studied computer application subjects in their course. these candidates must qualify for other requirements given in instructions.
